Fitd: Buy Clothes that Fit! New Fit Based Platform for Online Shoppers

A new fit-centric e-commerce platform called “Fitd” recently launched its beta version . The platform is the creation of Damian Guzman, a Cornell alum, “recovering” corporate attorney and now fit pioneer. I had the opportunity to speak with Damian about his platform and how it will help to evolve fit in the virtual retail space as well as test out the platform myself.

What it Does:

The idea is simple. You can let Fitd predict your body measurements by answering a few basic questions about your body (or measure yourself for better accuracy), and instantly shop from your own personal online clothing catalog, where every garment you see is matched to your unique body shape.  When your body changes, or when brands change their fit models, so does your selection.

“Imagine being able to shop for clothes that fit throughout each stage of your life from a single platform,” said Damian.  “We are also working on a new feature that will let you reliably buy clothes that fit for your friends and family!"

Measurements

Instructions are given on how to measure the areas needed for fit analysis. Like many other platforms, this technology requires some data input. However, unlike other platforms there is no need for a 'virtual fitting room'.

For me, the predictions are slightly accurate, but I needed to tweak a few measurements being that my body type falls outside of “norms”.

The platform then aggregates all of the clothing items that match your measurements.

The user can even decide which measurements should be exactly matched and which measurements can be approximately matched.  This allows each user's fit preferences to be taken into consideration, an equally important concept of fit.  The filter options are unique to Fitd in the virtual fit space.

Shop How You Like

The platform allows users to shop how they prefer.

By Brand:

By Preference:

By Price:

Users can even view how each garment's fit data relates to their own measurements so they will know exactly what to expect. Simple enough!

Users can choose from among tens of thousands of products from all over the Web from their favorite retailers and brands, plus new brands they have yet to discover. The platform even goes so far as to remind you what size you should order suggestion once you choose to buy a particular garment.

How is it different?

Let’s just be honest, no one likes to have to try on clothes, virtually or otherwise. The real question is “will it fit me?” and a simple “yes” or “no” will suffice for most people. This is where Fitd really distinguishes itself from the competition. The platform provides a simple solution to fit in the virtual world. The platform works with many of your favorite brands, and lets you discover new brands that design clothes for your particular body shape. You can now shop with confidence for clothes that fit on a single platform without having to switch from website to website.

I think the platform has huge potential to change retail and the concept of fit as it develops. I am interested to see how this platform compares to current fit technologies.

Check out the beta version of Fitd here and see what you think. Feedback is always great so don’t hesitate to comment.
